Hybrid or on-grid, single- or three-phase
Hybrid or on-grid
An on-grid string inverter sends solar production to the building and the grid. A hybrid inverter also charges and discharges a battery, so surplus daytime production covers the evening; models with a backup (EPS) output can also keep selected circuits running during a grid outage. Each product page says which outputs the model has.
Single-phase or three-phase
Match the inverter to the supply: 230 V single-phase for most homes, three-phase (listed by makers as 380 or 400 V AC) for larger homes, farms and businesses. A three-phase inverter spreads its output evenly across the three phases.
Low-voltage or high-voltage battery
Low-voltage hybrid inverters run 48 V / 51.2 V battery modules; high-voltage models need a high-voltage battery stack. The two are not interchangeable, so choose the inverter and battery as a pair — each product page lists the battery voltage range the inverter accepts.
